Times are certainly tough at the moment. There are plenty of ways you can save money whilst still giving your Guinea Pigs everything they need.
Sleeping space
You don't have to spend a fortune on fancy beds and houses... a cardboard box full of hay will be just as popular with your piggies.
Yellow label veg
Find out when your local supermarket reduces or “yellow stickers" their veg, or ask your local greengrocer for things like carrot tops that customers may not want. You can also often get free vegetables from Olio.
Buy in bulk
Buying in bulk can save a lot of money if you have the storage space. Try your local equestrian shop for bales of hay and wood shavings.
Do it DIY
If you have sewing skills, try making your own fleece liners. Bobble bath mats also work well and often work out cheaper than custom liners.
Go Foraging!
Look into foraging! There are a huge amount of wild plants that Guinea Pigs can enjoy, but make sure you never feed anything you aren't 100% sure on.
